These days, things have rolled on from the times when talent struggled round clutching huge collections of photographs and audio clips of themselves. Now our talent are on 'The World Stage' with not just photographs but audio and video clips of themselves being shown to clients in the industry in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and New York while they are asleep at home! What's important once you are registered with us, is to make sure your ePortfolio has up-to-date pictures, CV, experience and skills and clips if you have them, so when a hirer books a talent they get what they expect – avoiding shocks or disappointments!
No. When you apply, you will be asked whether you are prepared to travel, and which assignments (local, national or international) you’re prepared to accept. Making yourself available to a wide area makes it more likely that you will get work, but you have to bear in mind the commitment that could be involved. If you do have to travel, your costs will be paid by the client. These days with cheap air fares and with 70 million of us here in the UK, which is only 700 miles long, 300 million of us in the US and 300 million in the rest of the EU, anyone can get anywhere within 24 hours. Our Assignments Department places our talent in front of decision makers in the film, television, advertising, fashion and entertainment industries around the world and you could be among them. While you sleep, are at work or going about your daily business, we could be representing you in another timezone: Tokyo, Los Angeles, Singapore or London and in fact, anywhere in between, your e-Portfolio could be considered. Whenever we secure an assignment for our talent – we call, agree a fee with you, plus travel costs and the decision rests with you to accept. So, using online technology and taking full advantage of ever cheaper travel, we represent our talent with the same excellent care and attention – wherever in the world we work, be it your village, town or city or another continent.
Read the FAQ 'Do I need a portfolio or index cards'. We now promote our talent using e-Portfolios and there are three main options available, 'Rising Star', 'Celebrity' and 'Superstar'. Each offers a variety of features and benefits depending on the individuals ambition and the profile they require in appearing on 'The World Stage'. Photographs of yourself portraying a variety of looks (a conventional portfolio) could be useful on occasions when a photographer or director is looking to see your capabilities, usually at an audition or casting. These do not have to be professional pictures, it's your look they will be interested in, not the quality of the pictures.
It doesn’t quite work like that. Talent Management is selective in choosing new talent and when we receive applications they are submitted to our National Selection Panel by a new Co-ordinator. We're much more than just high-tech! Our business is run by real people - looking after real people - it's not about automation. While we embrace today's technology in making it easy for people to apply, and also for us to promote talent registered with us on 'The World Stage' – there is a crucial element in between – it's us, our staff! These are the people who make Talent Management work as one of the world's leading agencies, vetting applications and continuing with the human touch throughout the time we represent each and everyone personally. We are here working hard all day, every day and you can talk to us whenever you like – this is no sterile website, we are real people doing a real job and we welcome the opportunity of working with you. If a new applicant is successful, an 'Offer of Representation' for an initial term of up to three years is granted. It is then up to the individual to decide whether to accept and if not, the offer is made to an alternative applicant. To Apply now: www.talentmanagement.com/talent/
It is more important to have determination, commitment and the burning desire to succeed. Ask yourself first, do you have these? – with them you can go anywhere and do anything. Being successful is really about what you want. This will determine how much effort and commitment are devoted. Look into the background of anyone successful and you will find a whole lot more than you ever knew. Successful superstars of today in modelling, entertainment, sport and almost every other field, established their interest at a very early age and with total single-mindedness. Distinction in anything is no accident, it is a combination of determination and a great deal of effort, followed by more determination and more effort. This is why most people give up and a few succeed. We are here to help those wanting to find an agent and explore with them their personal resources in realizing their ambitions.
Many parents are concerned that their child’s studies will suffer. There are two issues: time commitment and your child’s focus. In terms of time commitment, remember that any assignment offered to your child is discussed with you as the parent and no one else. We do not deal directly with anyone under 16, only their parents or guardians. So you have full control over the assignments that your child accepts. Clients appreciate young peoples' studying commitments and work around school times. Very often assignments are at weekends or after school for this reason. There are strict guidelines on how long a child can work for, and how often they should get breaks and refreshments. In terms of focus, you have to decide whether this will take your child’s attention away from their studies. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that these opportunities offers many children a refreshing break, an exciting day out and a big boost to their self-confidence. See also 'Child Performers License'
e-Portfolio. Your e-Portfolio provides clients with your full profile details. You can add photos, video and audio clips and a CV, access a personalised online calendar and diary and view activity graphs. Superstar listings feature fully comprehensive talent information, the facility to upload as many as 10 images plus you can upload video and audio clips and a CV/resume. Email alerts. Our email alerts keep you in touch with everything that happens with your account - new assignments from our job board, client searches, availability checks and booking confirmations. No other talent agency offers the same level of communication. Superstars receive email alerts when they appear in a client search, as well as availability checks and booking confirmations. They also receive email alerts of new job board opportunities. Assignment fee. If you are booked for an assignment through Talent Management, we retain part of the fee paid by the client and give the rest to you.
No, you may not be successful in applying, in which case we wish you well and thank you for your interest in Talent Management. However, if you are successful and our National Selection Panel makes you an 'Offer of Representation' for three years. You are asked to pay a small contribution toward the online publication, equal to less than £48 per year, including VAT. Our 'Offer of Representation' will be for three years as this is the optimum time for you to become established with us. The publication fee for this term is £143 inc VAT. The publication fee contributes towards the costs of you appearing in our online publication 'The World Stage' – our support here is very real and you can contact your Co-ordinator in person anytime you like. We pride ourselves on providing a superior service of care and professionalism to all our talent and clients and it is fair and reasonable to make very a modest initial 'token charge'. Talent Management makes no other charges whatsoever, to assess, audition or apply. We agree with you before each assignment the talent fee we are charging the client. We collect this from the client on your behalf and retain one third as our agency commission, the balance is what we pay you in full. See here some example of work we do and examples of the fees talent earn. You are responsible for any personal income tax and insurance.
If you are successful, we ask for only a minimal contribution towards the online publication charges incurred in making your profile available to potential clients via our website and your e-Portfolio. We believe it to be a small but important token of commitment that a new talent should contribute less than £1 per week to the online publication. Many agencies will want some form of financial commitment, by requiring enrollment onto a paid course and/or an expensive photographic or filming session. In both these examples it is likely that finding you paid assignments is very much a secondary consideration. At Talent Management we make no such expensive preconditions to register with us and as a busy working agency, our group has since 1990 paid many hundreds of thousands of pounds in fees to our talented individuals for having fun and enjoying part time assignments in films, advertisements, entertainement, shows and being part of the action. To see some of the fees we have collected from clients and paid to our talent, click here. It seems reasonable and fair to ask talent for a small annual fee, £48 towards publication - See the previous FAQ 'Does it cost anything to apply?'.

Reading this section shows you are committed to your career and success. Without that dedication success in anything is impossible. This is emphasized as the most important question you could ask and well done for doing so! We are here to help those wanting to be successful and explore with them their personal resources in realising their ambitions. It is critical individuals wanting to develop their talent as a model or performer in the entertainment and fashion industry understand that although an agency can of course help – the only person who will make them successful is themselves! Make yourself part of the action! 1. Always be aware of local events and businesses that may be looking for models and promotional staff: · Regional press · Fashion features · Local non-chain fashion stores · Bridal stores · Charity shops · Hair and Beauty salons By introducing yourself as a model, actor, singer, dancer, entertainer interested in gaining experience and getting more work – you could find they have an event, photo shoot, fashion show or promotion coming up where your look or skill could be used. You will have seen for yourself fashion shows, shoots, events and countless people promoting in cities, towns, local malls and the press. 2. Contact photographers and advertising agencies listed in your Yellow Pages, see if they are looking for new faces for any forthcoming work. 3. Book with as many agents as you can. Tell everyone you are available for modelling and promotional work and give out business cards saying so, quoting your reference number, name and Talent Management telephone number: 0844 334 0000 – we are your agent – so use us! 4. Make sure the photos we are using to represent you with are current and kept up-to-date. You can update your photos online using your user id and password and clicking Add Photos. Go to it and Good Luck... Keep us updated with any useful contacts and events and if we can help – let us know! You could qualify for a commission payment and earn extra money as an Assignment Agent if we supply talent on an assignment you tell us about.

Here is our advice for taking photos: Bright, well lit, close up photographs have good impact Try taking pictures outside Make sure there is no clutter in the background Wear plain coloured clothes Avoid ‘household’ style shots (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc) Sit or stand comfortably Take close up photos so your head and shoulders fill the viewer Take some full length pictures, to give variety Show your personality and character; take some smiling and some more posed shots to give you varietyWear a different jacket or top, be relaxed, get used to the camera – and enjoy yourself! If you have your pictures developed, ask for ‘gloss finish’ as these scan better Photo booths at stations and super markets are a cost effective way to practice your pose and quickly get pictures to us.
Photographs can only be viewed if they have been successfully uploaded. If you have recently uploaded photographs online, they must first be approved before going live. Allow five working days for any changes you request to your online account. Photographs which are awaiting agency approval can also be seen in 'Add Photos' within the section called 'Photo request list' If you cannot see any photographs showing then they have not been uploaded correctly. Look at the additional online guides to help you upload new photographs.
A SAE is a self-addressed envelope. You will need to enclose one, along with four first class stamps, in your application to Talent Management.
Your email settings are currently selected to only receive plain text emails. We send out emails with graphics, which are called HTML emails. To benefit from this and to make sure you receive our emails in the future, change your email settings to accept HTML emails. The help settings in your email account should show you how to change this, if not, contact your service provider.
Talent Management sends automated emails to our registered talent every time they are considered for a possible booking. If you have received an email, this is because your look has been put forward. This can be from one of our local agents or hirers anywhere in the UK. Congratulations! You may be wondering what you should do now. The answer is nothing at this stage, rest assured we will contact you immediately by telephone if you are short listed or selected by one of our clients. If we need to contact you urgently it will always be by phone and not email. If you want to update your details online, please go to www.talentmanagement.com and log in using your user name and password and then click my e-portfolio. If you do not have your log in or password to hand click here, enter your email address and click submit - a reminder of your details will be emailed to you.
A Child Performers License is required for all children of 'compulsory school age'. If your child is selected and booked for an assignment we will send you the booking forms and a Child Performers License Application. We will complete as much of the license as possible and you simply need to fill in the rest, sign it and take it to your Local Authority for their signature and approval and they will issue it to you direct. It is a very easy and simple procedure to follow. Essentially, your own County Council will advise you - it is surprising, however there are inconstancies throughout the UK regionally and our best advice is to ask in the area you live. There will be someone at your Local Authority who presides over the issue of Child Performing Licenses and issue of them will be regulated by that authority.
Payments for completed assignments are sent by us in the form of a cheque made payable to you (unless otherwise requested) and sent to your address within 5 days of assignment completion. We collect the assignment fee from our client (see terms and conditions) and keep it in our client account. From this, we retain our agency fee and forward the remainder to our talent(s). We agree with our talent(s) the fee they will receive before any assignment and confirm the proportion we retain as our agency fee. Personal income tax or insurance payments remain your responsibility.
A chaperone fee is agreed before an assignment and paid, in addition to the booking fee, for one parent or guardian to accompany a child/teenager on an assignment. This is to help with your costs for being on hand during the assignment. The chaperone fee depends on the value of the assignment, location, time and travel. We emphasize the subject of chaperone fee must be discussed before any assignment is agreed and retrospective claims will not be entertained.
An additional fee for travel may be agreed with you on request as part of the discussions before an assignment, where the distance is over say, 20 miles. Many of our talent are booked for work overseas, in these instances, your travel costs will be agreed and paid by cheque at the same time as the talent fee. We emphasize the issue of travel fees must be discussed before any assignment is agreed and retrospective claims will not be entertained.
Email bookings@talentmanagement.com and give a brief account 'a few paragraphs' of your assignment. Include details of what happened, who was there and how much you enjoyed it along with any feedback from the client. Receipt of this email will trigger the issuing of your payment cheque and that will be posted to you. Other talent will be interested to hear how you got on from your email, as will all the team here.

To help, here is our advice when taking photos; We need bright, well lit, close up photographs of you relaxed and happy! Try taking some pictures preferably outside, making sure there is no clutter in the background, and you wear clothes in plain colours. It is always good to avoid 'household' style shots (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc and preferably not wearing a hat) as they don't look as professional. Sit or stand comfortably. Ask whoever takes the shots to bring the camera up close so your head and shoulders fill the viewer. Also take some full length pictures. Show your personality and character, take some smiling and some more posed shots to give yourself variety. For full-length shots make sure YOU and not the background or scenery fill the viewer. Wear a different jacket or top, be relaxed, get used to the camera - and enjoy yourself! Upload your new photos online once you have logged in, click 'Add Photos' Sit in front of the mirror to achieve the correct facial expressions. 1a) Put your lips together and don’t move them. Look at your face in the mirror concentrate on the eyes… they are lifeless… now lift up the corners of your mouth and watch your eyes come alive. 1b) This gives you a natural casual look, which should be used at all times to give that pleasant look to the face. 1c) To create a smile say ‘MMM’, without opening your mouth, no teeth should be showing, don’t forget to turn the corners of your mouth up. 1d) To create the broader smile with your mouth still closed try ‘MMM’ again, don’t forget to turn the lips up at the corners of the mouth. 2a) This time say ‘ME’ open your mouth and show your teeth but keep it soft without a smile. 2b) Say ‘MEEE’ again, this time with a big smile showing all your teeth. 3a) Now with ‘HEY’ this is a very natural facial expression. Say ‘HEY’ and hold it – you will notice your tongue is coming forward ad the lips are apart. 3b) Now try it again saying ‘HEY’ with a smiling expression. 4) To create the gaunt look; by pronouncing the word ‘POOR’ keeping the lips very soft and sultry holding for a few seconds. 5) To achieve an open and happy laugh try saying the word ‘HAA’ not forgetting to concentrate the eyes on someone or something to avoid the lifeless look. Relax and have fun!
Here are some useful introductory links to find a photographer. The Master Photographers Association (MPA) is one organisation that can help you find a photographer. For more information see their web site at: www.thempa.com Also, for the United States: www.aspp.com www.ppa.com We strongly recommend that you establish the credibility, professionalism and sincerity of a photographer before commissioning them. To do this refer to their professional organisation, see their work and visit their premises with a friend or relative – or for teenagers a GUARDIAN or PARENT.
