The Talent Management bloggers have noticed a surge of Photoshop-induced blunders in the fashion industry this year.

From the not-so shocking stories around companies blending models’ lines out in anti-wrinkle cream ads, to the more extreme cases, like when Forever 21 unashamedly blended out their lookbook models’ kneecaps, we’ve seen it all.

And now, in yet another bizarre story from a long line of Photoshop-addicts, Vogue China has managed to digitally amputate their model’s leg!

That’s right, poor Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes has strangely been massacred of her right leg in a swimwear spread in their June issue.

And it seems the pro-natural beauty team here at the agency aren’t the only ones who find extreme Photoshopping offensive – the models in the images hate it too.

Discussing the shot in question (seen above), Doutzen told the New York Post at Supermodel Cycle Ride at SoulCycle: “I just saw this. Maybe it’s two legs together? Maybe it’s the pose? I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I think Photoshopping is OK until something like that happens. You don’t want to lose one of your limbs.”

And she’s not the only one annoyed at being altered post-production. Erin Heatherton told the papers that she hates it when her freckles are Photoshopped out: “I feel like it looks like someone else,” she said. “I guess [digital enhancement] is not fair. It’s a bittersweet story. You look better, but it’s a lie.”

While most post-production is deliberate and slightly more subtle, we’re pretty sure this case is a genuine, albeit obvious, mistake. That is unless Vogue is trying to convince us that completely Photoshopping out limbs is the hottest new trend in swimwear?! Maybe this will teach them a lesson that natural imagery is the way forward, if only to avoid embarrassment.
