Talent Management has just checked out American Elle’s March cover girl; the vivacious Katy Perry.
Posing for the cover in silk and satin Gucci spring brights and a soutache bra from the La Perla Jean Paul Gaultier Collection Createur, we think Perry looks stunning.
But having read snippets from her interview with the magazine, it seems the ultra-alluring performer didn’t always feel that way – encouraging news for those of us with low self esteem.
Inside the magazine, Perry speaks about her envious hourglass figure, but reveals how she battled with accepting her body shape when she was younger: “I was shaped like a square at one time. I was! I’m generally around 130 pounds, which is totally fine for me. But when I was a kid, I was the same height and weighed more like 145. And I had enormous boobs that I didn’t know what to do with, so I wore minimizers, which were not cute. Those thick-ass straps! I got made fun of for the over-the-shoulder boulder holder…and all I wanted was to look like Kate Moss. Little did I know…that these things would come in handy someday.”
Thankfully, Perry didn’t opt for surgery and today embraces being a self-proclaimed “sexy girl” who has it all – a husband, a successful music career and a rocking body.
But having it all is never easy, as Perry points out: “I think you can have it all. You just have to work really hard, because great things don’t come easily.”
We think that’s great advice, as we know that to be a successful model you not only have to work hard to achieve your goals, but also accept that not everything in life will be handed to you on a plate– it’s up to you to go out there and make things happen!
