Erin O’Connor Talks Real Beauty
A couple of years ago, model and diverse beauty campaigner Erin O’Connor was approached by Dove to discuss what has changed since Dove’s iconic Campaign for Real Beauty launched in 2004. And the team at Talent management think the androgynous beauty had some inspiring things to say: “As a model, I more than anyone understand what it’s like to be under scrutiny because of the way I look. I don’t believe anyone should feel pressured to confirm to one singular ideal.
“During the discussion we talked about a range of topics from why the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty has resonated with women to the impact of unattainable images of self-esteem. You’ll see from the footage of the debate that real beauty and self-esteem is an issue we all feel strongly about.
“It’s time for the media, advertisers, the fashion and beauty industry to sit up and take notice and ‘celebrate the beauty of diversity’.”
So, what’s your point of view on the real beauty debate?
