Models Direct writers have just seen images from V Magazine’s shoot with Jennifer Lopez and we have to admit that she looks pretty amazing modelling nothing but a pair of boxing gloves. The 42-year-old pop star appears in their ‘Sports issue’ – edition 76 – in a series of outfits with a boxing theme, taken by talented fashion photographer Mario Testino.

V Magazine says: “We wanted to pay homage to these incredible icons past and present with our own Fashion Olympics. The talents who grace these pages face challenges, obstacles, victory, and defeat in an open forum almost every day. Who knows better about such an endeavor than our coverstar, Jennifer Lopez? Over the course of her 20-year career, she has both triumphed and been knocked down, but always gotten back up again.”

This seems to be a fair comment. ‘Jenny from the block’ has enjoyed incredible success, not only as singer but also an actress, dancer and businesswoman. She has won 80 awards and been nominated for over 170 since her career began with TV comedy show In Living Colour.

“You’re not going to hit the target or the bull’s-eye every time. That’s part of it,” Lopez tells V Mag. “At the end of the day, I made those choices. I’ve been in the business now, I don’t want to say how many years. You have amazing moments of recognition and success. But at this point in my life, I try to take it all with a grain of salt.”

One such moment of recognition was recently apparent at the Oscars, but it was soon followed by stories in the press this week about a certain rumoured wardrobe malfunction. “Sounds like a lot of people were up against their TV screens with magnifying glasses during the JLo presentation,” commented Mark Knoller@markknoller on Twitter after the show. Despite his, and several other comments and stories, J-Lo’s stylist insisted that no malfunction had occurred.

Either way it may be best for people not to raise issues like these around the feisty star: “I know how to fight!” She says. “I can take a lot of punches and still keep going. I’ve been trained like a boxer to go 15 rounds.” Okay, well we won’t make too much of a big deal about those slightly bizarre shots featuring a crotch supporter then…
