To make a real statement, try a slightly edgier shape in your next coat choice. Ovoid shapes, dolman sleeves and cocoon sleeves are bang on trend. We’re huge fans of this blue cocoon silhouetted ASOS Premium Car Coat. With the structured directional cut, unusual hue, and new brushed wool texture, this has to be the ultimate statement coat this winter.

Oversized or full length faux furs are also big this season, adding an instant element of luxury to any outfit. Designers from Chanel to Stella McCartney to Topshop Unique all featured fake fur on their A/W 11 catwalks. We love this big and cosy mottled brown number from ASOS, but if this look is too full on for you, try faux fur trims on collars and hems for just a hint of old school Hollywood.

If the over-the-top glamour of fur really isn’t your thing, wear the ‘statement’ trend in a brightly coloured Crombie style coat for a more sophisticated, androgynous look our models at the agency love to wear on castings. One of our favouites is this very British-looking post box red coat. Other standout block colours this season include emerald greens, petrol blues and mustard yellows, but there really is nothing like making a statement in red.
