Talent Management model Vanessa was featured in The Sun Newspaper last week in their article ‘We never let our husbands see us naked’. A poll in the article reveals that one in six women cannot bear to be bare in front of their husband, and many have done so for a year or more despite 40% admitting it has harmed their marriage. The survey was conducted by online pharmacist UKMedix.com.
Vanessa, 44, decided to open up to The Sun and reveal why she refuses to let her husband Stacy see her naked:
“Even when I am in the bath I cover my body with bubbles, just in case my husband walks in. I hate my tummy, my thighs and my arms – the only part of my body I am happy with is my boobs.
“It drives my husband mad that I won’t let him see me naked, and it is years since he has seen me without clothes. In bed I wear pyjamas, or vest top and knickers. I make sure the bathroom door is firmly closed while I dress.
“My husband tells me he loves my body. He is hurt that I am so self-conscious in front of him but I can’t help it. We have a good love life but all the lights must be off and I could never undress in front of him. I used to be really slim but age and children have taken their toll – though I am still only a size 12.
“When I look at myself all I see are the bad bits – the rolls of flesh – and I beat myself up about not being slim enough. I look at women like Kelly Brook and think, ‘I should look like that’ but real women simply don’t. Celebrities give us an impossible image to live up to.”
We thought it was very brave of Vanessa to take part in this article and she looks fabulous in the pictures! Do you have any body issues or find it hard to let you partner or husband see you naked? Let us know.
