We Love Vogue’s ‘Alexander The Great’ Shoot
In honour of Alexander McQueen, American Vogue has drawn on the expertise of Steven Meisel to capture some of our favourite models in an epic shoot for the May edition.
The shoot, aptly named ‘Alexander the Great’, sees top models Karen Elson, Raquel Zimmermann, Karlie Kloss, Caroline Trentini, Stella Tennant, and Coco Rocha posing in McQueen’s most infamous designs across a selection of seasons.
Coco, who said the clothing was “some of the most imaginative and stunning pieces of clothing ever created”, posed in pieces from the Spring 2001 collection; a silk wool straightjacket-come-kimono embroidered with raised birds and flowers, paired up with cigarette pants and an incredible hat that incorporates real flowers.
On Coco Rocha’s blog, ‘Oh So Coco’, she wrote: “I’m very honoured to have been a part of this historic McQueen retrospective for Vogue magazine and I’m extremely excited about this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s exhibit: ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’.”
The Gala event is May 2nd and Coco wants to know one thing: “What ON EARTH do I wear to this event?!”
Any ideas?
