Ashish Celebrates The Underdog In 8th Capsule Collection For Topshop
Here at Talent Management, we’ve been getting into the swing of the sporting summer, which is why we love the inspiration behind Ashish Gupta’s 8th capsule collection for Topshop.
The 9-piece range takes on an international sports theme, twisting and playing with it; typical of Ashish’s trademark comic style.
The collection features a grey jersey sweat set embellished with world flags, maroon and grey jersey marl tee’s, and jumpers and vests with sporting phases such as ‘2nd place’, ‘Don’t play games’ and ‘I Love Sports’.
Talent Management’s favourite piece has to be an American baseball jacket that pokes fun at sporting and varsity culture with an embossed ‘Loser’ slogan on the back.
Affectionately known by fashionistas as the ‘King of Sequins’, Ashish first crossed paths with Topshop in 2004 when he won New Generation sponsorship. His collections exuberantly mix sportswear and high octane glamour, often using bright colours, sequins and prints, and this latest capsule range doesn’t disappoint.
Ashish said of the collection: “I was rubbish at sports in school, and I was always the last one chosen for the football team! So I can relate to being the ‘loser’! I want to celebrate the underdog, the runner up, the ones that don’t get the medals!”
Prices range from £20 – £100 and are available in the Topshops at Oxford Circus, Brompton Road, Selfridges, Stratford, New York, White City, Manchester Arndale & Topshop.com.
