But having led a generation of young women to do their daily squat challenges to achieve that killer Kardashian-esque backside, there is no doubt that Kim, Kourtney and Khloe’s lifestyle and over the top aesthetic is one that young women yearn for and aspire to — and work hard to achieve.
With Kylie and Kendall Jenner coming of age recently, like their older sisters, the younger Jenner girls are also no stranger to a headline — arguably eclipsing their sisters’ popularity within the beauty, fashion and modelling set. Supermodel Kendall has been on the front pages of all the blogs recently for her part in promoting and perpetuating the latest thigh brow trend. For those not in the know, thigh brows are the set of folds that frame the tops of thighs and separates leg from butt, best shown off by wearing a frong.
This week it is the baby of the family — Kylie Jenner — who is grabbing the most headlines, with everyone talking about her much sought after bee sting pout. Whilst Momager Kris Jenner was reportedly unhappy when the youngster – who just turned 18 last month – got semi-permanent filler to achieve her plump lips, older sister Kim was said to be supportive of her “amazing lips,” simply warning her not to go overboard.
Here at Talent Management, we also think that Jenner’s plump lip looks amazing, and understand why young women are clamouring to achieve the glamorous bee-sting pout. What the fashion magazines aren’t telling you however is that you don’t have to resort to expensive fillers to replicate Kylie’s pout. Whether you want to become a model or just look like one, a gorgeous full lip can be achieved through clever make up techniques alone – and has the added bonus of hurting a whole lot less!
With over 200,000 YouTube tutorials dedicated to achieving Kylie’s killer look, and Mac reportedly selling out of her favourite nude lip pencil, it’s hinted that Jenner will be releasing her own lip make up range later this year. Until then, here are our Talent Management’s top tips for achieving a sexy pillow pout, in just a few simple steps.
What you’ll need:
Whilst Kylie favours a Mac lip liner pencil, any high-street or budget brand lip liner will do the trick, as long as it matches your natural lip colour.
You’ll also need
- concealer,
- pressed or loose translucent powder,
- a matt or satin lipstick (depending on the look you’re looking to achieve)
- A light, non-sticky lip gloss
Step 1: Create your blank canvas
Use your concealer to blend around the natural outline of your mouth, to ensure you disguise your natural lip line. Don’t be too heavy handed, you’re just looking to create a blank canvas to build upon. Once you’re happy with your base, lightly cover with some powder to set the concealer.
Step 2: Create your new lip line
Ensuring your lip pencil is super sharp, begin drawing slightly outside the natural outline of your lips. Remember to suit how bold you go to the occasion and the rest of your make up and outfit. We’d suggest keeping it small for day to day, and go bolder for a night time look.
Step 3: Fill in the rest of your lip base
Still using your lipliner, fill in the top and bottom lip, using small feathery strokes, from the outside in, providing a solid base for whatever colour you choose to cling to.
Step 4: Colour baby!
Now you’re ready to add your lip colour. In the previous three steps, you may have been doubting how your new pillow pout was going to look, but this is where it all comes together beautifully.
Apply your favourite lipstick, building up as much colour as you want. Kylie is a huge fan of a matte finish lipstick, but both matt and slightly glossy work well. At Talent Management, we like Mac Whipped Caviar, applied with an angled brush for a professional finish.
Step 5: Finish your look
If you prefer a super matte finish, use a one ply tissue, cover your lips and brush a little powder over the top. For a glossy finish, dab a little Mac Lip Glass over the centre of the upper and lower lips.
