London Fashion Week 2013 – Bizarre Headwear & Bonkers Makeup

London Fashion Week 2013 is back! There have been some brilliant shows, exciting new trends and a lot of hardworking models. However, it wouldn’t be London Fashion week without some quirky outfits and bonkers headgear! Here are some of the most bizarre ensembles we have spotted on the runway so far this year:

1) Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2014 Red Label collection

Vivienne brought politics to the runway at London Fashion Week SS14 with a little help from her model friend Lily Cole who performed a strange floaty dance for the opening. Some models strutted down the runway with t-shirts emblazoned with ‘Climate Change’ and all of them had eery white painted faces and big voluminous hair. Westwood said of her designs: “I just use fashion as an excuse to talk about politics,” she said. Activism and fashion aren’t in conflict for her, she added. “Because I’m a fashion designer, it gives me a voice, which is really good.”

2) Belle Sauvage AW 2013 Collection

Oriental prints were matched with an army of platform black calf-boots and bizarre dip dyed fringes and exotic headwear back in February.

3) KTZ AW 2013 Collection

Is it just us wondering how on earth the model pictured above can see through that ram’s horn eyewear?! KTZ promised witchcraft and tarot for their AW collection and they certainly haven’t dissapointed with lots of rubber, fur, pointed hats and scary PVC masks which gave their show a rather fetishy feel.

4) Central Saint Martins graduate Eilish Macintosh AW 2013 Collection

Eilish Mackintosh’s collection was a bit ropey… one model appeared on the catwalk with a noose headpiece obscuring her vision and a noose necklace which all seemed rather morbid to us. “I started trying to make textiles or garments that are more like jewellery, with the separate rope pieces and solid ceramic elements cast into the garments,” Macintosh told Dezeen. “[The collection] was based on traditional pacific jewellery, bondage and in particular the photographs of Nobuyoshi Araki, and Eduardo Paolozzi sculpture.”

5) One To Watch – Yeashin Kim AW 2013 Collection

Quite a medieval inspired look, although we were not quite sure what the minature Christmas tree on top of the model’s hat brought to the outfit…

6) Fyodor Golan

And finally some pretty dresses and interesting headwear at Fyodor Golan.

There are still just under two days to go for London Fashion Week and we can’t wait to see what other mad headpiece creations these designers have got in store for us in their SS 2014 collections!
