Models Direct Get The Low Down On Kate Moss Interview
Despite her status as one of the worlds best known models, Kate Moss is a notoriously private person. So, when Models Direct heard that she had given an interview with Allure Magazine we knew we had to get the low down.
Love her or hate her, Moss is an undeniable fashion icon. She has made some very publicised mistakes, but considering that her modelling career began when she was just 14, some may say that she has done that Moss could’ve done worse. The 39-year-old told Allure how she has felt about some of the criticisms that she has received over the last 25 years – starting with the public’s reaction to ‘heroin chic’.
“It was horrible, especially the anorexic thing. The heroin… ‘Oh, it’s just ridiculous I don’t do heroin just because I wear a bit of black eyeliner that’s smudged… But the anorexic thing was a lot more upsetting, to be held responsible for somebody’s illness. I wasn’t anorexic.”
On her recent campaign for St. Tropez and her own body-image she said: “I didn’t like my flat chest. I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to have a [boob] job.’ Can you imagine?”
“I used to be so scared about [showing] my body. Now that I’ve shown it, it doesn’t bug me about my moles, or ‘This isn’t big enough’ and ‘That’s not smooth enough.’”
We’re glad to hear it! Moss doesn’t have much cause for concern in terms of her figure…
Later in the interview she was asked about daughter Lila-Grace, aged 10. Are there any signs of her following in mums footsteps?
“She’s watched The Devil Wears Prada ten times, and she’s got a desk in her room with a phone. She puts a little outfit on and picks up the phone: ‘Hello, Miranda Priestly’s office.’ I say, ‘Lila, do you know who Miranda Priestly is in real life?’
“But she just doesn’t care. Shes like, ‘Hello, Miranda Priestly’s office. Can you hold? Patrick Demarchelier on the line!’. I died when I heard her do it. So funny.”
So, final word? Moss says that in terms of make-up and fashion you should, “Go for it, try everything, see what you feel comfortable with, be who you want to be”. And her secret as a celebrity is: “Never complain, never explain”.
Well, it seems to have worked for her so far.
