Scottish fashion designer Louise Gray, whose name you make recognise from her Topshop collaborations, has just revealed a very interesting twist on her upcoming Spring/Summer 13 catwalk show.

The lady whose design signatures include colour, textures, hand silk screening and specially developed fabrics using woven, embroidered and printed techniques, has made an unlikely pairing with Barbie, of all brands!

While the team at Models Direct thought this was a strange teaming at first, we’ve since found out that although she’s just under a foot tall, Barbie is big in the fashion community.

In fact, as model or muse Barbie boasts five decades of fashion heritage, working with more fashion designers than any other brand in the world, from Calvin to Cartier, Gucci to Galliano and Versace to Vera.

Being the latest high fashion designer to join forces with the iconic doll, Gray, who rather fittingly says her ideal client is “ultimately someone who is fun”, has created three adult-sized looks inspired by Barbie herself.

The pieces are set to be unveiled during the designer’s Spring/summer 2013 show at London Fashion Week, which is scheduled on Monday September 17.

We can’t wait to see whether Gray uses Barbie-esque models to showcase the pieces!
