At just 19 years old, young model Marihenny Rivera, originally from the Dominican Republic, has already achieved some impressive catwalk scores, including Louis Vuitton, Ohne Titel, Prada and Giles – not to mention editorials with V Magazine, Italian Vanity Fair and Nylon, and an American Eagle Campaign with John Urbano.
While Rivera has not been modelling long, she now has a couple of seasons and a host of photoshoots under her belt and has begun to show more than just promise. So, the team at Talent Management wanted to know more and were curious what advice she would give to a model just starting out in the industry.
Luckily for us, the teen model recently spoke to trade magazine WWD and her top model advice was “don’t get your hopes up”.
“Last season I went to the same client five times,” she said. “The day of the show, I was still waiting for the e-mail with the call time. Nothing. It broke my heart. Now I tell my agent I only want to know about confirmations, not options.”
Continuing, she went on to tell WWD what part of modelling the collections at fashion week she has found the toughest. “Staying the same size,” she answered. “If one month you have a 34 hips, the next month you can’t have a 33 or a 35.”
Rivera, who told Vogue Italia that her father was once a model in Santo Domingo and is proud of her efforts in pursuing a modelling career, also told the magazine what’s next for her: “Be a big actress and live with my family for more time.”
Talent Management wishes this young model the best of luck in her endeavours as an actress, and know that modelling can be the perfect gateway into the acting world.
