A 58-Year-Old & 15-Year-Old Model For Uniqlo’s New Campaign
As anyone who reads the Talent Management Blog will know by now, the team at the agency loves to see age diversity in the modelling industry.
And, having just sent a group of our mature models out on a job for Comformatic and a selection of our teens out on a job for the National Sporting Club, we know that a wide age range is common place in commercial modelling, but it’s also nice to see that diversity reflected in fashion modelling too.
That’s why we were happy to hear that 15-year-old ‘Style Rookie’ blogger Tavi Gevinson bagged a modelling job alongside 58-year-old singer, songwriter and actress Cyndi Lauper.
The pair were snapped up by Japanese retailer Uniqlo for their new campaign featuring a special collaboration with Irish, London-based designer Orla Kiely for their 10th Anniversary of the Iconic UT Collection, as well as their new colourful UNIQLO denim range, launching simultaneously.
On a press release from Uniqlo, the company says Kiely’s “distinctive graphic and stylised motifs, with their clean repeat constructions, achieve a very modern style whilst her love for all things mid century adds a nostalgic quality”.
Sound like a great interpretation of new meets old to us; making Tavi and Cyndi, at opposite ends of the age spectrum, the perfect model pairing.
We think it’s great Uniqlo has recognised that echoing the diverse age range of their customers in their model choices is a smart move. Let Talent Management know whether you agree on our Facebook Fan Page!
