The model known across the fashion industry for supporting environmental issues has not only rallied support for orphaned African elephants, but has also been learning about women working together to empower themselves and make changes in their lives.
“It’s Important To Have A Dream No Matter What Your Circumstances” Says Gisele
Our favourite humanitarian model, Gisele Bündchen, has gone and surprised us all at Talent Management yet again.
As well as becoming a helicopter pilot, a mother and United Nations goodwill ambassador, the world’s highest paid model has been out in Kenya learning about energy poverty.
On her trip, the model known across the fashion industry for supporting environmental issues has not only rallied support for orphaned African elephants, but has also been learning about women working together to empower themselves and make changes in their lives.
Gisele visited a group of women in the rural area of Migori who were learning new skills to change their lives.
On her blog, the Brazilian beauty left a special message about the experience: “I was touched by one of the young mothers who shared her story and the challenges of raising kids on her own. In order to provide food for her family, she was walking 8 miles to the market each way to sell bananas. If she didn’t sell the bananas, her family went hungry. She was struggling and the women of her village stepped in to help.
“One of the women taught her how to make soap from the local plants in a workshop. She packaged the homemade liquid soap in recycled plastic bottles and sold it at the market for more than the bananas. She is now providing for her family and passing along her good fortune by teaching other women how to make soap. Sharing knowledge is empowering for everyone!
“It is important to have a dream no matter what your circumstances are. The women I met on my journey reminded me how important it is to never give up and always believe in ourselves. I hope after reading this story, you’ll find your inner strength and use it to make your dreams come true!”
The team here at the modelling agency were touched by Gisele’s story and believe this great advice is universal; whether you’re trying to become a model, bag your dream job or indeed are trying to support your family, never give up and always believe in yourself!
