Jayne Pierson Uses Ballet Dancers Not Models At LFW

Last Sunday at London Fashion Week, high-end ready-to-wear designer Jayne Pierson showed her Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, ‘The Mobius Strip’, in a stand-alone show at The Show Space.

The team at Models Direct not only loved the collection, which was inspired by “an intercultural world, organic structures and morphing textures”, but we also loved the fact that the Welsh designer chose prima ballerinas to model her pieces down the catwalk.

London Promotes – Equity Models

Victoria Keon-Cohen, Chair of Equity’s Models Committee, has just invited us all to share in London Promotes; a campaign for London Fashion Week. It’s about the work the Model Programme – an alliance between Equity, the Models’ Union, the British Fashion Council, Association of Model Agents and the Greater London Authority – is doing to ensure that London is a healthy and safe place for models.

Models Direct Supports The BFC’s Model Programme

Models Direct fully supports the BFC’s Model Programme and all the efforts being made to ensure models’ safety and wellbeing while on modelling jobs. Let’s just hope that the rest of the industry takes these recommendations on board, and that further headway is made.

Models Direct’s Child Models Enjoy Photoshoot For ADHD Campaign

Advertising agency Tap Creative recently came to Models Direct looking for two ‘real’ looking child models aged 8-12 to front an ADHD medication campaign for Flynn Pharma – a company that aims to re-energise tried and trusted branded pharmaceutical products.

9 year old Alex and 11 year old Gemma fit the company’s requirements perfectly and the pair were booked into a 2-day photoshoot in Cambridge.

In partnership with the British Fashion Council (BFC) and the London Development Agency (LDA), and with support from Dance UK, Equity has produced a series of online leaflets called ‘A Model’s Guide To’.
