Modelling Reality Shows: Models Direct’s Top 3
As anyone who follows our blog will know, the team at Models Direct is a huge fan of modelling reality shows. And with two new shows – Signed By Katie Price and Models, Misfits & Mayhem – just kicking off, we thought we’d take a look back on our all time favourites…
Dirty Sexy Things
Models Direct’s number one modelling reality show has to be Dirty Sexy Things, which followed eight models on an eight-week project led by fashion photographer, Perou. In this ‘concept-doc’ viewers were able to get a unique insight into the modelling lives of four girls- Ariella, Charlotte De Carle, Jessye B Romeo and Ocean Moon – and four guys – Jay Camilleri, BB, Lord Robert Walters, and Jesse Burgess. Following what goes on in front of and behind the camera lens, we felt that Dirty Sexy Things really got under the skin of modelling, and absolutely loved it.
The Model Agency
The Model Agency saw modelling fanatic-viewers delve head-first into the glamorous lives of the fashion models at one of the UK’s leading elite modelling agencies. Of course, the Models Direct team watched every episode and provided a review each week in which we discussed the callous brutality of editorial modelling and the opportunities available for those discouraged beauties who may not look as ethereal as the high end fashion models featured in this somewhat disheartening documentary. Still, Models Direct was a big fan of the drama and the debate the show sparked in our offices!
Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model
The team here at the agency eagerly awaited this year’s Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model, and we weren’t disappointed. Judged by designer Julien Macdonald, fashion stylist Grace Woodward and modelling heavyweights Elle Macpherson and Charley Speed, thousands of girls were auditioned for what is perhaps the UK’s biggest modelling competition. This year’s winner has to be one of our favourites throughout the history of the competition. Jade Thompson – a petite, mixed-race, freckly redhead – beat fellow finalist Juste Juozapaityte – an experienced Lithuanian model with ‘conventional model looks’ – to the BINTM crown. And, as readers will know by now, we’re huge fans of diversity on the modelling scene!
