As Models Direct has said before, modelling competitions can be a fantastic way to kick start your modelling career.

That’s why earlier in the week we let you know about a great hair modelling competition in the West Midlands, and now we’re letting you know about a plus size model search for fashion photographer Velvet d’Amour’s new fashion magazine Plus-Size-Tall.com.

Velvet, who is also an iconic plus size model, rose to fame on the Jean-Paul Gaultier catwalk back in 2006. And now the stunner is on a mission to highlight a more diverse range of beauty, outside of the standard ‘straight’ model body type, with the launch of her new magazine.

Velvet wants to draw more attention to women who are proud of their curves and who are not ashamed of being different – so if this sounds like you, then get applying now by heading over to the community page of Plus-Size-Tall.com.

If you become the lucky winner, you’ll get a London-based photoshoot directed by Velvet with a professional makeup artist and a hair stylist, and will become one of the stars of the magazine.

You’ll even money towards travel expenses and get to keep digital versions of the photos so you can include them in your portfolio.

You have until October 15th 2011 to apply, with the winner will be announced later that month and the photoshoot taking place in November.
