As a follow on from her Autumn/Winter 2011 film ‘BIRTH’, American designer Alexandra Groover has just created another short film entitled ‘LIFE’, which is to be shown alongside her Spring/Summer 2012 collection during London Fashion Week.

We’re already huge fans of the film, not just because of its interesting concept around origin and separation, but mainly due to the fact that it features plus size model Lucy Freeman alongside Lauren Rae Mace, Diana Patient, Vasilisa Forbes, Roisin Burns and Anna Iceland.

This is the second time that Groover has teamed up with Freeman, who is a size 12-14; the pair worked together on All Walk’s ‘Size Me Up’ campaign back in 2009, where the designer created a bespoke dress for the curvy British model to wear in campaign imagery that was featured in i-D Magazine.

“I have always believed that some of the most unique, beautiful, interesting, photogenic, catwalk-worthy models do not fit the current and very limiting modelling industry standard,” said Groover, and we quite agree! It’s great to see a diverse range of shapes being used by such an up and coming designer.

The full film will premier at London Fashion Week on Sunday, September 18th at The Old Curiosity Shop in London.
