Dirty Sexy Things – Episode 2 Review
The exciting journey into the world of modelling continues this week with E4’s ‘Dirty Sexy Things’ second episode.
This week’s episode sees the group head to Paris, the hyper-competitive fashion capital, the big question being of course, will any of them succeed in signing to a top agency?
BB, Jessye B, Jay and Ariella promptly set out to storm the doors of Paris but before leaving, Jay’s agent, in no sugar-coated words warns him to clean up his act. But of course part of the fun is watching the show to see if this bisexual party boy can resist a wild night out in the French capital!
Paris is of course renowned as being the city where fashion was born. Continuously setting the trend with iconic brands such as Chanel, Dior, Hermes and Louis Vuitton, many of the main brands are looking for the very best, most unique models in existence. Such strong heritages from the fashion houses usually means that most Paris fashion shows are restricted to fashion professionals only – this really is the cream of the crop. Immediately, episode 2 is exciting as it is undeniably captivating to find out which of the models are up to this impeccable standard.
Meanwhile, back in London Lord Rob and his girlfriend Anastasia have arranged what turns out to be a catastrophic blind date for Charlotte and Jessye B, whilst Perou is busy setting up a sensational ‘Heroes and Villains’ shoot selecting four of the models to take part. Following a loud argument with her hair stylist, Ocean Moon takes centre stage and attempts to redeem herself quickly in order to become Perou’s top choice for the big exhibition.
As initially seen in episode 1, there are similarities between this series and the world-famous ‘Next Top Model’ series, but thankfully there appear to be developments of this original template which are seeing this new modelling extravaganza swiftly stealing this franchise’s thunder. The models answer back and their personalities are never far from the camera lens – as a result we see the models’ back stories in far more depth. This insight into their personal lives gives us a far clearer understanding as to why models are incorrectly perceived as being ‘dumb’.
What is so fascinating about the world of modelling? In a recent interview, Perou explains his thoughts on the phenomenon: ‘I think by its nature it’s a glamorous industry. It’s the beautiful people. Models are rockstars that don’t make music. And some of them even do make music, certainly one of the boys on our show does. It’s one of those industries like movies and music; it’s an aspirational place that people want to be.’
