Last week, Paul Costelloe’s Autumn/Winter 11/12 collection opened the much awaited catwalk season at London Fashion Week.
Not only were his models considerably curvier than the controversial ‘size zero’ models, but none of his model choices were smaller than a size 8 (American size 4) – which pro-curves Talent Management were happy to see.
Costelloe said: “The flat, featureless figure is on its way out. That’s thanks to the Americans who don’t go down the route we do in London sometimes.
“I’ve been at castings over the last couple of days and very few very slim models came in. They all had a curvy shape and that’s good because tailoring is important.”
Talent Management was also pleasantly surprised to see the Irish designer’s 24-year-old daughter, Jessica, opening the show.
We also really loved his use of redheads in the show, which set the perfect tone for the colourful and quirky collection.
