Once again, luxury British brand Mulberry has been up to some playful catwalk shenanigans by sending both canine and human models down their catwalk this Fashion Week.

Having used pet models in previous shows – one of our favourite being a cute French Bulldog sent down Mulberry’s A/W 2010 catwalk who wore a purple knitted jumper that matched the model’s – this time around the brand has used a Miniature Schnauzer.

The Mulberry clad dog model, who strutted down the catwalk in a spring/summer 2012 hooded raincoat among other outfits, was in keeping with the show’s playful tone, which Mulberry’s Creative Director Emma Hill said was inspired by the “classic British seaside”.

“We’re recreating a seventies summer of fun for the new season,” said Hill, who went on to reveal that she was also inspired by “donkey rides on the beach, sticks of rock and the glittering lights of the pier, as well as the classic Englishness of rolling meadows, bright summer flowers such as pansies and nostalgic Scouts’ and Brownies’ uniforms”.

We think the inclusion of dogs in this fantastically themed show, which were also in the audience (Mulberry invited guests to bring along their own pet dogs too), shows a great light-hearted side to fashion week and created a show that won’t be easily forgotten!
